Our Story
Meet Fabian – Owner & Operator of Fly Legend
My love for the water started at an early age. At just 15 years old, I began working as a river guide for my family’s rafting company, a business that has been sharing Costa Rica’s rivers with visitors since 1993. After spending more than 15 years guiding on the river, I knew that anything related to the water would always be a part of my life.
As I transitioned into managing the accounting and operations side of the family business, I found myself with more free time. Around the same time, my oldest son was born, and together we discovered a new passion: fishing.
What started with fly fishing for machaca and snook in local rivers quickly grew into kayak fishing along the beautiful coastline of Manuel Antonio. Before long, we purchased our first boat—a simple 12-foot flats boat powered by a 15-horsepower outboard—and began exploring the mangroves and estuaries.
The passion continued to grow, eventually leading us offshore into the rich waters of the Pacific. From chasing roosterfish along the coastline to targeting sailfish, tuna, and mahi-mahi offshore, every step of the journey deepened our appreciation for the sport and the incredible marine life Costa Rica has to offer.
Today, Fly Legend is the result of that journey. Our goal is simple: to share our passion for fishing, the ocean, and adventure with every guest who steps aboard. Whether you’re an experienced angler or picking up a rod for the first time, we strive to provide a hands-on, memorable experience filled with excitement, learning, and unforgettable moments on the water.
Based out of Marina Pez Vela in Quepos, Costa Rica, Fly Legend specializes in offshore fishing, inshore fishing, fly fishing, and family-friendly adventures along the Central Pacific coast.
